There’s a quote by the great philosopher and psychologist, William James, we use so often on our team that it’s kind of become our team motto –
“Act as if what you do makes a difference, it does.”
Lindsey Hernandez has taken this motto to heart and applies it in every single thing she does. It’s no wonder, then, that she has been named a “hero” – indeed, she is in the eyes of her fellow Life Engagement Managers, her community staff, her residents and families.
By selflessly serving her community, Lindsey creates joy in the lives of those she serves through daily acknowledgement of personalization, magical moments of connection through sincere interactions and through the environment she fosters where everyone feels appreciated, needed and valued.
Using her knowledge of the backgrounds, lifelong habits and preferences of those she calls “her family”, she lovingly crafts daily engagement opportunities that validate and uphold identities and foster a sense of unity within the community. Quiet, humble, and unassuming about the good she consistently puts into her world, Lindsey is often the last to “toot her own horn”. I’ve heard her say on more than one occasion that she considers it an honor to serve her community and bring joy to those she loves.
Lindsey embodies the standards we all strive for as a Life Engagement Team. Her dedication and compassion is at the heart of what all Life Engagement Managers strive to create within the walls of each Autumn Leaves community. She is a shining example of what we all stand for and hope to create for those we serve.
It is an honor to work alongside Lindsey Hernandez, Autumn Leaves Hero.
