Our community teams work 24 hours a day caring for our residents. At any given moment of the day, you’ll find them handling a multitude of responsibilities from caregiving, medication dispensing, or culinary services, to maintenance, housekeeping, or Life Engagement, just to name a few. It takes the combined efforts of each person to provide the very best in memory care for our residents.
At the Home Office in Texas, there is another group of people working hard to provide a solid foundation (both literally and figuratively!) for the communities. From land development for future Autumn Leaves communities, to financing, legal, interior design, accounting, and more, the Home Office team provides the support the communities need to do the very best job they can do.
But when miles, and often entire states, stand between you and your coworkers, there can be an unintentional disconnect. “This was one of the driving forces behind CEO Mitch Warren’s vision for Community Connections. It is truly one of our most important programs, ” says Laura Strickland, Director of Training.
Community Connections works to bridge the divide between Home Office team members and the communities. New employees spend a day shadowing the Community Teams during a typical workday, except… there is no typical day at Autumn Leaves! You could attend Community Connections every week and have a completely different experience each time! This alone is revelatory for many of us who are accustomed to structured workdays with regular routines. At the community level, the team pivots like a well-oiled machine, adjusting as the day unfolds. Without our teams working seamlessly and in support of one another, we can’t provide the very best memory care to our residents.
Community Connections leaves employees with a meaningful experience to tap into when they are back at their desks. At the end of the week, they will know how hard their coworkers at the community worked, and why what each of us does matters. We’re all contributing to a greater mission through our own unique roles at Autumn Leaves!
The secondary component of Community Connections centers around the Home Office Team’s ongoing involvement in Autumn Leaves community life. Think of it as “Continuing Education” for your heart and soul! Team members will continue to visit and volunteer at the community level, strengthening the bond they formed on their first visit year-round.
You’ll often hear the mantra “Family First” here at Autumn Leaves. We support our families, in every sense of the word. The residents and their families along with Autumn Leaves team members are all part of one big family and we find our strength in this Community Connection.
