Bart joined the Glen Ellyn community in April of last year. Since then, his wife Diane has become a huge part of the Glen Ellyn family. Diane knows she needn’t reach out to management or nursing with a question about his care; she goes straight to the people who spend the most time with her husband throughout the day. Over the last year and a half, she’s built a lasting relationship with Bart’s two main caregivers, Sam and Kiaherra. With the three of them working together, Bart has a solid foundation of care which is reinforced by the rest of the care staff.
It’s easy to see this relationship at work when Diane is in the building, but it wasn’t until this year’s Naperville Walk to End Alzheimer’s that we were able to capture that bond in a photo. Pictured below is caregiver Sam with Diane. Not only do they, along with Kiaherra, work together on a daily basis to provide the best possible care for Bart, but they spent time outside the community walking side by side in support of the fight against Alzheimer’s. Together they are not only champions for Bart and the rest of the Glen Ellyn community, but for the lives of all those impacted by this disease.
