Family members & caregivers: united by a common mission

November 17, 2016

Making the transition from home care to living at Autumn Leaves is a coordinated effort. Acclimating to a strange new environment and unfamiliar faces can be disorienting and upsetting for someone living with dementia. During this time family caregivers are instrumental resources as our staff gets to know our new resident, as well as the unique physical and emotional cues that tell us how they’re doing. No one knows better than a family caregiver what will make their loved one feel safe and comfortable. So when Diana felt that staying with her husband Phil during his first few weeks at Autumn Leaves of Georgetown would ease his transition into the community, the staff welcomed her with open arms. “Never have I felt more surrounded by care, love, and warmth. That feeling has remained throughout the year Phil has been here. I cannot sing the praises of all the staff loudly enough! It’s been a year of wonder at the amazing care he has received. Thank you for caring.”

Thank you, Diana, for choosing us to care for your dear Phil, and for sharing your lives with us.
