Resident Spotlight: Howard

June 21, 2017

OverlandPark_HowardandSonHoward grew up in Emporia, Kansas, with the exception of his service to the US Army during WWII when he was stationed in Europe from 1944-1947. We are incredibly proud to share that Howard won the Purple Heart as a result of his service to this country.

He was happily married to his lovely wife, Mary Alice, for 69 years.

Following his military duties, Howard worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1948-1971. Due to injuries sustained in the war, Howard retired at 47, and gave freely of his time as a volunteer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and active in the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW.

Happily for us, he moved to Autumn Leaves of Overland Park earlier this year and has the distinct honor of being our very first resident at this brand new community. He also celebrated his 94th birthday in March!
